Revenue Increase through Target User Expansion and Diverse Content Sourcing
We noticed the limitations of the existing PDF viewer in distributing content, so we decided to launch an EPUB viewer using Bookio's engine technology. We carefully selected and integrated the necessary EPUB viewer features and added unique features related to English language learning to differentiate ourselves from competitors.

Problem
PDF viewer had issues with image-based operation, which made it inefficient for learning from text-heavy books. Its UI was designed for children, causing reduced concentration. Additionally, due to the learning stages tailored to picture books, users had to engage separately in reading and listening.
Outcome
Through the creation of our EPUB viewer, we have provided a personalized reading environment and various features and improved the functionality of the design that allows users to concentrate on the book's content and a media overlay function that enables simultaneous reading and listening.

I examined the basic functionalities offered by EPUB viewers, as well as apps that specialize in audio features and English language learning, in order to identify the various features that they offer.

Solution 1
Improving Text Readability with Customized Reading Environment for Users
The previous Reading Stage 3 viewer for PDF files made it difficult to read books with a lot of text, but we have improved it by providing customized reading settings and the reflowable text feature to make it easy to read on various devices.

Adding Reading Activities Specifically Designed for English Language Learning
I improved the usability by enhancing the reading activities-related functions, allowing users to engage in natural learning through activities such as highlighting, sentence listening, and searching.

Collecting and Organizing Memorable Reading Activities through the record
Through bookmark, highlight, and vocabulary list features in the record, users can easily review and effectively read books by checking important contents anytime.

Efficient language acquisition through simultaneous listening and reading
By using the media overlay feature, it enhances readability and visibility, allowing users to focus on the content of the book and audio.
Takeaways
Development of Design System
Starting with the theme switch in the Epub Viewer project, we introduced a dark mode color system and semantic color token system into the design system.
Quick feedback through Casual UT
By conducting a Casual UT through prototypes, we were able to receive quick feedback on confusing parts, and improve usability based on the feedback.
Understanding of Communication and Platforms
I wrote documents on function definitions and detailed planning to communicate with multiple developers. Through communication with developers on various platforms, I gained experience and increased my understanding of the platforms.
